This is a new, independent website launched in October 2026. It is not connected to the previous owner of the californiaredwoodbirdingtrail.org domain, and it is not the original Redwood Coast birding trail project or any of its sponsors or partners. It is also not affiliated with Redwood National and State Parks, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, any Audubon chapter, or Del Norte or Humboldt County.
What the site covers
- An overview of birding on California's Redwood Coast
- A guide to birding sites in Del Norte County and the redwood parks
- A schematic region map
- A checklist of notable species
- Pages on the Marbled Murrelet and on Humboldt Bay and the Arcata Marsh
How the information is sourced
Every fact, figure and date on this site comes from a published source, mainly the National Park Service, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Audubon magazine, Joseph Morlan's county birding pages, the Friends of the Arcata Marsh and Wikipedia. Each page lists its sources with links. We don't publish personal trip reports, reviews or invented details. Access rules and closures change, so always confirm with the land manager before you go.
